I have been exploring the strength of imaging a diagrammatic human heart as a counterpoint to the current view of culture as something to be obtained from television, Hollywood movies and media reports. Merleau-Ponty, Helmholtz, Freud and neuroscience have all taught that the human mind continually searches its memory for associations to whatever it perceives as part of the lifelong construction of a meaningful picture of the world. Beyond what is given over to an imagined reconciliation between the man-made world and a diagrammatic heart, these urban images could offer the idea of an existence where considered love resides.
