Gail Bourgeois holds an MFA from Concordia University (Montreal) and has been shown professionally since 1985, in solo and group exhibitions in Canada and in England. Her professional activities include jury invitations, numerous awards, artists’ residencies, artists’ collaborations and cultural committee work.

Her long-time commitment to cultural practices includes curating five large-scale exhibitions between 1996 and 2004, and presenting her ideas on art and culture at major conferences, 1987-2002. She is a founding member of Powerhouse Gallery (La Centrale) in Montreal, 1973. She has published more than thirty articles, reviews and essays in leading Canadian and British catalogues and art journals.

In 2008, Gail Bourgeois responded to a public art call and her bicycle rack design was chosen for the Bank Street North Rehabilitation Project. In addition, a work has been purchased for the City of Ottawa’s Fine Art Collection. With her studio practice based in Ottawa, Gail teaches drawing and two seminar courses at the Ottawa School of Art.
